Beijing, China, June 20 2023 – The National Medical Products Administration (NMPA) approved the registration application for the innovative product "Single-port Laparoscopic Surgery System" produced by Beijing Surgerii Robotics Co., Ltd. This is the first single-port surgical robot available in China and the second globally, following Intuitive Surgical's da Vinci SP (which is not available in China). It is also the world's first single-port snake-arm surgical robot, following a different technological approach than the SP system.
Beijing Surgerii Robotics Co., Ltd. was established in 2014 as a high-tech enterprise dedicated to the independent research, development, production, and sales of single-port and multi-port minimally invasive laparoscopic surgical robot systems. The company's founder, Professor Kai Xu, graduated from Columbia University in the United States under the guidance of the "Father of Medical Robotics," Professor Russell Taylor. Since its establishment, the company has focused on building core independent intellectual property rights and key technologies throughout the entire value chain. Its flagship product is the Endoscope Surgery System (SR-ENS-600). In 2020, it was granted entry into the special review process for innovative medical devices by the Medical Device Evaluation Center of the NMPA. On June 20, 2023, the NMPA approved the registration application for the innovative product "Single-port Laparoscopic Surgery System" produced by Beijing Surgerii Robotics Co., Ltd.
