NO.1 BonaSight Debuts at the Indian Robotic Surgery Innovation Conference ARIS!

On March 1, 2024, the Annual Conference of the Association of Robotic & Innovative Surgeons (ARIS) was grandly held in New Delhi, India. More than 500 robotic surgeons from across the globe, including the United States, Europe, South America, the Middle East, and Australia, attended the conference, making ARIS the largest and most professional robotic surgery conference in Indian history.

 

ARIS attracted many top-tier robotic manufacturers globally, including Intuitive Surgical and CMR, along with several leading institutions in the industry. NO.4 True Health's New Puncture and Ablation Robots Debut at the 2024 China Medical Equipment Fair

From March 28 to 31, 2024, the China Medical Equipment Fair and Medical Equipment Exhibition took place in Chongqing, featuring True Health Group. NO.5 First of its kind! Tuodao Endoscopic Surgical Robot Successfully Completes Advanced Urological Clinical Trials!

On March 5, 2024, the Tuoling® endoscopic surgical robot, independently developed by Tuodao Medical, officially commenced operations at Jiangsu Provincial People’s Hospital (The First Affiliated Hospital of Nanjing Medical University) and successfully completed its first entry in the urological clinical trial. Under the assistance of the Tuoling® endoscopic surgical robot, Professor Wang Zengjun, the chief of the urology department, completed a robotic-assisted laparoscopic partial nephrectomy, marking another significant clinical advancement for domestic endoscopic surgical robots. This milestone signifies Tuodao Medical's important progress in the field of endoscopic surgical robots.

The Tuoling® endoscopic surgical robot consists of a surgeon's console, a patient surgical platform, and an imaging processing platform. Compared to traditional endoscopy, the robot's 8-degree-of-freedom control arms provide surgeons with an extremely dexterous operational experience. Its self-developed 3D electronic endoscope provides three-dimensional stereoscopic images, enriching depth perception and allowing surgeons to perform delicate operations as if they were in the midst of the procedure. The high-precision master-slave control algorithm enables surgeons to manipulate with ease, carrying out minimally invasive and precise lesion removal. The robot's intelligent human-machine interaction design simplifies user operations with automated functions such as one-button positioning, enhancing surgical efficiency. Its 15 comprehensive instruments cater to the common and customized needs of various clinical departments.


NO.6 International Premiere! RuiMi Surgical Robot Successfully Carries Out the First Overseas Clinical Surgery for Domestic Neurosurgery in Kazakhstan

Recently, the domestically produced neurosurgical robot RuiMi® RM-200 made its international debut at the Medical Center Hospital of the President’s Affairs Administration of the Republic of Kazakhstan, located at the starting point of the Belt and Road initiative. It assisted doctors in successfully performing Kazakhstan's first robotic-assisted neurosurgical operation, which included robotic-assisted SEEG electrode implantation and intracranial biopsy. This operation also marked the first overseas showcase of a domestically produced neurosurgical robot. Following the surgery, Professor Talgat Yermekov, the lead surgeon for this clinical application, and his team fully affirmed the intelligence, precision, and ease of use of the RuiMi® surgical robot.

The RuiMi® RM-200 neurosurgical robot, developed and manufactured by Beijing Baihui Weikang Technology Co., Ltd., received NMPA certification from the National Medical Products Administration in 2020 and has been approved for market launch. It can precisely assist doctors in performing high-complexity neurosurgical operations such as DBS deep brain stimulation, SEEG electrode implantation, percutaneous puncture, endoscopic navigation, visual navigation, intracranial hematoma aspiration and drainage, and intracranial biopsy.


NO.7 Tens of Millions in Financing! YingDaTong Vascular Intervention Robot Completes Pre-A Round

Recently, YingDaTong Medical Co., Ltd. ("YingDaTong") completed a Pre-A round of financing in the tens of millions of yuan. This round was participated in by investments from Wuxi Runyuan, Xi Chuang Investment, and a well-known family office. The funds raised in this round will support the design validation and clinical trials of the company's disposable vascular intervention robot series products. YingDaTong will also further increase its R&D investment, launching more original instruments to meet the clinical treatment needs for vascular diseases.

Compared to traditional surgical robots, YingDaTong's products have clear advantages. Its independently developed unique catheter design and supporting electromechanical system allow doctors to navigate tortuous vessels more conveniently during surgery without having to compromise between pushability, torque, and flexibility, and hold the potential for performing remote surgeries.


NO.8 JianJia Medical's IPO Halted!

On March 31, 2024, according to the latest news from the Shanghai Stock Exchange, Hangzhou JianJia Medical Technology's IPO has been halted. Previously, JianJia Medical had resumed the listing process in August 2023 after an IPO suspension.

Hangzhou JianJia Medical Technology Co., Ltd., known as JianJia Medical, is a high-tech enterprise specializing in the research and development, production, and sales of surgical robots and their related products. Its flagship product, the ARTHROBOT hip replacement surgical robot, has the distinction of being the first domestically produced surgical robot of its kind in China.


NO.9 $3.61 Billion! MEYA Optoelectronic Releases 2023 Annual Report

On March 30, 2024, MEYA Optoelectronic (002690) released its annual report for the year 2023. According to the financial statement, MEYA Optoelectronic has seen a simultaneous increase in net revenue and profits compared to the previous year. As of the end of this reporting period, the company's total operating income was 3.61 billion yuan, representing a 14.55% increase year-over-year, with a net profit attributable to the parent company of 1.11 billion yuan, up 2.02% from the previous year. Looking at the quarterly data, the total operating income for the fourth quarter was 1.14 billion yuan, up 24.39% year-over-year, and the net profit attributable to the parent company for the fourth quarter was 270 million yuan, an increase of 4.9%.

Hefei MEYA Optoelectronic Technology Co., Ltd., established in 1993 and officially registered in 2000, went public on the A-share market in 2012. It is a national high-tech enterprise focusing on the R&D and manufacturing of optoelectronic intelligent recognition equipment. The company's spinal surgery robot is designed for precise navigation and positioning of surgical instruments and implants during spinal surgeries, ensuring operations are more minimally invasive, accurate, faster, and safer.


NO.10 Approved by NMPA! Intuitive Surgical's Natural Orifice Robot

On March 21, 2024, according to the public information from the National Medical Products Administration, Intuitive Surgical's "Bronchial Navigation Operation Control System" was granted a registration certificate with the number "National Medical Regulatory Approval 20243010155".

The approved Ion Bronchial Navigation Operation Control System (hereafter referred to as the "Ion system"), used in conjunction with Intuitive Surgical's bronchial navigation fiber optic positioning catheter, bronchial navigation visualization probe, fiber optic positioning catheter guide, and matching passive accessories, can generate three-dimensional reconstruction models of the lungs and guide paths based on the patient's CT images, display images of the adult bronchial tree, and assist doctors in navigation and positioning within lung tissues.

On November 15, 2022, the Ion system passed the National Medical Products Administration review and was approved to enter the special review procedure for innovative medical devices. Following the iconic da Vinci surgical robot, the Ion system is another novel product from Intuitive Surgical. This approval marks Intuitive Surgical as the second company after Johnson & Johnson Medical (Monarch approved in September 2023) to be approved for a natural orifice surgical robot in China.


NO.11 $10 Million Financing! Agilis Robotics Completes Series A+ Funding Round

Recently, the medical surgical robot startup Agilis Robotics (hereafter "Agilis") completed a Series A+ funding round. This round of funding amounted to $10 million, exclusively invested by a family fund from Singapore, and will be primarily used to advance research and development progress and clinical registration efforts.

To date, Agilis has successfully completed three rounds of financing, raising over $17 million in total. Despite the industry downturn, institutions have still chosen to invest in Agilis, reflecting not only their recognition of the surgical robot field but also their affirmation of Agilis's strong capabilities.
