With the advancement of surgical technology, surgical robots are increasingly being paid attention to by hospitals and patients in China. In the industry, multiple head medical device companies have added surgical robot product lines. Surgical robot startups have raised over $500 million in recent years.
China is already at the forefront of the global surgical robotics industry, with over a hundred newly established surgical robotics companies in the country, roughly equivalent to the total number in the rest of the world. In the field of surgical robotics, there are top-notch interdisciplinary teams and the most practical medical application scenarios.
The Chinese government also attaches great importance to the surgical robot industry. In January 2023, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, along with 17 other departments, jointly released the “Action Plan for the Implementation of ‘Robot+’ Applications”, which puts forward development requirements for the robotics industry in various fields, including medical and health, and accelerates the promotion of robot applications.
The “14th Five-Year Plan for the Development of the Robotics Industry” clearly outlines five main tasks: enhancing industrial innovation capabilities, consolidating the foundation for industrial development, increasing the supply of high-end products, expanding the depth and breadth of applications, and optimizing the industrial organizational structure. By 2025, China aims to become a global hub for robotics technology innovation, a hub for high-end manufacturing, and a new hub for integrated applications, with an average annual growth rate of robot industry revenue exceeding 20%.
In order to accelerate the development of China’s surgical robotics industry, and promote global exchange in the field of surgical robotics, MedRobot and Leaderobot Service Platform propose to organize the “Global Medical Robotics Conference 2023 and MedRobot Industry Awards Ceremony” on September 8, 2023, in Beijing.
